Biography of Dr. Victor H. Fordyce

October 21, 2008

After graduating high school and college, Victor Fordyce taught high school German and English for 3 years in Greenville, Texas. Then he joined the Air Force as a B-52 bomber crewmember. He eventually became an instructor radar navigator (bombardier) at the Combat Crew Training School in California and ended up his career as a staff officer at the Headquarters, Strategic Air Command in Nebraska.

After leaving the service, he taught high school for 12 years, 11 of them at Omaha Christian Academy. "There I taught German, English, Bible, and drama. I also served as Secondary Head Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and Accreditation Chair. While at OCA, I continued my studies in Education Administration.”

Vic began his college career at Dallas Baptist College, which was a two-year institution at the time, studying Bible and Greek. He received his B.A. in Foreign Languages with a major in German and minors in English and Education at the University of Texas at Arlington. He took some graduate courses in German at UTA and East Texas State University as well. Later, Vic earned his M.A. in Education Administration at Chapman University. Finally, after many years of research and study, he received his doctorate in education, with a major in Education Administration.

"For a while, my wife Sandy and I led a quiet life in the country, 67 miles northwest of New York City. We fed the wild turkeys and watched the wild life (but we didn't lead one).” He was the administrator for 2 years at Goshen Christian School, a PreK-8 private school in Goshen, New York.

Vic later moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he stills watches wildlife—this time it’s a large flock of Canada geese swimming in the pond across the street. He is now the principal at Christian Center Elementary School in Sioux Falls, which offers PreK-5 Christian education. Christian Center has an enrollment of 72 in the preschool and 152 in the elementary.

In his spare time, he is a substitute English as second language teacher at his church and directs an Awana Sparks club for kindergarten through second graders on Wednesday nights. Both Vic and Sandy have worked in Awana clubs before for a number of years and have been involved with Bible studies and discipleship programs.

“We have 3 kids—Denny, Kimberly, and Reanna—and 4 grandchildren—Mackenzie, Hayden, Nicholas, and Lucas—and we love them very much. We also love our sons-in-law, Phillip Yeich and Bryce Ady. We enjoy spending time with them in North Carolina and Nebraska. We even love our black cat, Little Miss Texas. It's been a wonderful life so far."

"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have life more abundantly" (John 10:10).
